Having used two different pdf programmes, it seems likely to me that this problem is at the Microsoft end. This is a VERY frustrating problem when I am preparing pdf materials for students and my carefully coloured documents are now effectively black and white. See the image below: PowerPoint images print in colour, but all text is black. From within Word, 'save as' also gives only black font. I have used two different pdf drivers: Adobe Acrobat, and 7-pdf, and neither will 'print' text in colour from Word. However, there may be times when you want to adjust text alignment to the center or right. To change text alignment: By default, Word aligns text to the left margin in new documents. You can then click and drag the highlighter over the lines you want to highlight. Click the Text Highlight Color command, and the cursor changes into a highlighter.Backgrounds and images show up in colour, but text remains unremittingly black. If you’d like to use a custom color for your page, you can change page colors in Word. In a MIcrosoft forum I found a comment that an HP service rep was able to find and correct this driver problem with the individual but that the driver that loads from the HP site does not address this issue. If you want to print document backgrounds, you can change this setting. It will print a color page from a website but there is no option to select color in printing preferences within Word. The closest problem report I have found with what appears to be the same problem is here:, which appears to have no solution. By default, Microsoft Word uses white as the default page color for all documents. By default, Microsoft Word does not print document backgrounds that you create by using the Background command on the Format menu. From time to time I have gone hunting for an answer, but have been unable to find anything that works. I have windows 7 pro and the HP printer is CM1415fnw color laser printer. It will not print color when I am using a microsoft office program such as excel or word. This is done so you can tell you are working in a field. There is nothing wrong with the printer, it works just fine with a mac user in the lab, and it prints color for me when i print a picture or pdf.
